Technical History

This website was originally developed in 2006 with the Userland Frontier Website Framework on an Apple Macintosh. Frontier was one of the very first static content management systems, making its appearance circa 1996. The author used Frontier extensively in the late 1990s, since at the time is was offered as free software and was a very flexible and capable website publishing platform.

Frontier ceased being supported in recent years and has not maintained compatibility with the latest versions of Apple’s OSX operating system.

In 2010 the author discovered the RubyFrontier project, created by Matt Neuburg. RubyFrontier is a port of the Frontier Website Framework to the Ruby language. It uses TextMate as an authoring tool and IDE.

During 2010 this website was migrated out of Frontier and into RubyFrontier.
