In October 1981 the Melbourne Theatre Company brought Peter Shaffer’s play “Amadeus” to the Athenaeum Theatre. Directed by John Sumner, the production featured many of Melbourne’s well known actors, including Fred Parslow in the role of Antonio Salieri and Bruce Myles as Mozart.
This was a period when Denzil was approaching retirement from the world of audio-visual and film production and he could find time once again in his 60s for theatre work.
In Amadeus he played the role of Count Johann Kilian von Strack.
