This looks like an early GTV9 publicity photo. In this shot we see Ron Davis (at left), Geoff Corke, an unidentified person and Denzil (wearing the headphones). Based on apparent ages of those present, this looks like it was taken in the late 1950s — perhaps during the setting up of the station? It may have been at the transmitter building on Mt Dandenong.
As a performer, Denzil was at home being photographed and “acting” for the camera. He also loved to take photos of people pointing at things, and in this photo he doesn’t disappoint!
A label on the rear of the photo indicates it is the work of Melbourne photographer Laurie Richards. In his later years, Denzil and Ron Blaskett spent many hours at the Melbourne Performing Arts Centre helping to identify photographic negatives from the collection of Laurie Richards.
