Creating strange and eccentric characters was something Denzil enjoyed doing on stage, in comedy films and for television. As a member of the team of comedy writers for In Melbourne Tonight in the early 1960s, Denzil created characters such as Brigadier Brendan Fortescue, and this eccentric chap who constructed this raft, the “SS Nine” which prompty sunk.
